CBD + CBG

Cannabinoids

CBD + CBG describes a formulation that pairs cannabidiol with cannabigerol, two non-intoxicating hemp cannabinoids with overlapping but distinct pharmacology.

Both compounds come from the same precursor in the plant and are usually found together in full- and broad-spectrum extracts, but a CBD + CBG product typically adds purified CBG so the ratio is higher than nature provides. The two interact with different sets of receptors in laboratory studies, which is the reasoning behind combining them. A certificate of analysis lists each separately, so the actual amounts of both can be checked.

Clinical evidence for the combination is less developed than research on CBD alone, and findings from one compound should not be attributed to the pairing. There is no direct comparative evidence that the combination outperforms either compound by itself, and no approved medical use for either outside the single FDA-approved CBD prescription drug. The pairing also appears in hemp products marketed for pets; a veterinarian is the appropriate source for questions about an animal.
