Third-party CBD testing

Third-party testing is laboratory analysis performed by an independent laboratory with no ownership stake in the product, used to verify cannabinoid content and screen for contaminants.

A manufacturer sends samples from a batch to an outside laboratory, which runs potency and contaminant panels and issues a certificate of analysis under its own name. Independence reduces the incentive to report favorable numbers, and accreditation to a standard such as ISO/IEC 17025 adds an external check on the laboratory's methods. Some companies test in-house as well, but only the independent result is considered verification.

For a reader, the signs of genuine third-party testing are a certificate bearing the laboratory's name and contact details, a batch number that matches the product, a recent date, and results across potency, heavy metals, pesticides, solvents, microbes and mycotoxins. Testing shows what a sample contained; it does not prove a product is effective for anything, and it cannot guarantee how any individual will respond. It remains the most reliable tool a consumer has for knowing what is in the container.
