Terpinolene

Terpinolene is a fresh, piney, slightly floral monoterpene found in tea tree, apples, lilac, and some cannabis and hemp chemovars.

It is usually a minor terpene in cannabis, but a handful of varieties carry it as the dominant one, giving them a distinctive herbal, almost woody aroma. Like other monoterpenes it evaporates readily and can be lost during drying and processing. Terpene panels report it by weight, often near the bottom of the list.

Terpinolene is not a cannabinoid and has no established action at cannabinoid receptors. Research on it is limited to laboratory and animal work, and there is no clinical evidence that it changes what CBD does; synergy claims remain unproven. It is also an ingredient in some household fragrances and cleaning products, which is worth remembering when reading a pet product's terpene list.
