Supplement Facts panel
A Supplement Facts panel is the standardized label box that lists serving size, servings per container and the amount of each dietary ingredient per serving.
The format was established under dietary supplement law and specifies the order of information, the units and the way proprietary blends and other ingredients are shown. It distinguishes supplements from conventional foods, which carry a Nutrition Facts panel, and from drugs, which carry a Drug Facts panel. The amounts it lists are label claims that a laboratory can verify.
Many CBD products use the format even though the FDA's position places CBD outside the dietary supplement category, so the panel signals a labeling convention rather than a regulatory status. For a reader, it is the place to find the CBD amount per serving and the number of servings, which together give the total content to compare with the certificate of analysis. The panel describes what a product contains; it does not describe an appropriate amount for any person, which it does not set.
