Cannflavin

Cannabinoids

Cannflavins are a small group of flavonoids that have been identified only in cannabis, distinct from the plant's cannabinoids and terpenes.

Flavonoids are pigment and antioxidant compounds found throughout the plant kingdom; cannflavin A, B, and C are the ones unique to Cannabis sativa. They are present at very low concentrations and are not routinely measured on certificates of analysis, so most consumers never see them listed. Their presence is one reason full-plant extracts are chemically more complex than isolates.

Cannflavins have attracted interest in laboratory studies, but the research is preclinical and there is no clinical evidence connecting them to what CBD does. The compounds are not cannabinoids, do not act on cannabinoid receptors in any established way, and are not the basis for any product claim. Pet owners are unlikely to encounter the term outside of scientific summaries.
